Works on Paper: Prelude to the Present
From left to right, top to bottom, strokes are painted like writing "i"s. Each are painted apart, casually aligned, and clearly marked by hand,
with a certain inclination to fill the surface, like text covering a page. In some, multiple reframings occur with thick long black strokes or slight
tonalities around the edges of an area. Often layers are built up by continuously re-affecting the surface through a fissure of new markings,
washes, and thick strokes of paint. It creates a space constantly in motion luminant and translucent, reflective yet distance, but always seemingly present.
